Collection: Percolator Bongs - Buy a Percolator Bong

Percolator bongs have percolators that contain slits or holes which helps to break the water into bubbles. The bubbles produced are visually stunning, and the bubbles increase the surface area contact of the smoke to the water and create smoother smoking hits.

How Does a Percolator Bong Work?

Smoke is forced into different paths by the percolator, which can be of different shapes, and have tiny holes which create bubbles and maximizes the amount of surface area to distance the smoke makes with the water.

This is important because water is a polar molecule that will attract other contaminants found in the smoke while allowing the nonpolar smoke to pass through. The more tubing, slits,, holes, water, and height your bong has, the more opportunities your bong will have to use that mixing, or diffusion, to produce smoother, cooler vapor by filtering out some of the combustion byproducts.

The # of Percolators

Percolator bongs may contain any number of percolators. Most bongs will have at least one diffuser, which is your most basic percolator. These diffusers are typically found at the bottom of a downstem and provide basic filtering. However, there are many different types of percolators.

Percolator Shape

Percolators can come in different shapes and sizes including honeycomb percolators, tree percolators, and helix percolators to name a few. Honeycomb percolators use tiny holes to break the bubbles, while the tree percolator uses tiny slits to break the smoke.

All percolators function the same - they all use bubbles to cool the smoke. Read more about the different percolator types to see the unique benefits of honeycomb percolators, tree percolators, propeller percolators, and more.

How to Fill a Percolator Bong with water?

The correct way to fill a Percolator Bong with water will depend on how many chambers your bong has. For single-chambered bongs, fill the bong with water until the slits, holes, or tubes of the perc are barely submerged in water. If you experience any splashback, you might have added too much water, so try to empty out some of the water. If the smoke is coming in too harshly you might try adding a bit more water. It’s best to experiment with the percolator and try tweaking it until it is just right. Every bong is different. For bongs with multiple chambers, you will want to tilt and maneuver the bong around the bong until each of the chambers has enough water covering the percolator.
